A CONTINUING CREATIVE JOURNEY

February 22nd and upcoming 2026 dates
A Collaboration between Ani Collier and Tzveta Kassabova — Artist in Residence at Black C

In January 2026, Bulgarian-born choreographer, performer, and installation artist Tzveta Kassabova returned as an Artist in Residence at Black C. Internationally recognized for her interdisciplinary approach to movement, Tzveta’s work exists at the intersection of dance, visual art, costume, and environment. She approaches choreography as spatial composition, often designing immersive worlds where the body becomes both subject and landscape.

During her residency, Black C Art functioned as an experimental lab. Tzveta collaborated closely with Ani Collier on video exploration, movement research, and performance experimentation. Together, they transformed the gallery into a black box environment, creating an intimate setting for close viewing and layered presence. The residency allowed space for risk, improvisation, and the beginning stages of a new version of WHY THIS, a work that continues to evolve, and remains in development.

On February 22, Black C presented the U.S. premiere of In Search Of…, a short immersive experimental film created by Ani Collier and Tzveta Kassabova. The evening was more than a screening. The gallery was reimagined as a fully immersive environment, inviting audiences into a shared space of image, sound, and movement. The work extended their original live duet into cinematic form, offering viewers an experience rooted in atmosphere, emergence, and perception.

Tzveta’s residency helped initiate 2026 as a year of creative exploration. Her time in the space reaffirmed Black C Art's commitment to collaboration, process, and the ongoing development of performance as a living art form.
