PORTRAITS is a performance featuring an international cast of award-winning dancers from Dance Alive National Ballet. The Gainesville-based professional ballet company was established in 1965 and today it is one of the premier touring companies in the United States. Entertaining and insightful, provocative and joyous, Dance Alive National Ballet’s repertoire ranges from the classic 'Nutcracker' to the cutting edge of contemporary ballet.

PORTRAITS combines familiar classical ballet images layered with original choreography. Ani Collier applied her approach in creating collages while assembling different forms to create a distinctive point of view. She allowed artists to create, be creative and be themselves. Every painter paints himself is a fact known since the early Renaissance. Similarly, PORTRAITS paints the likeness, personality, and mood of various characters and allows the artists to be themselves.

Open your imagination and get a new perspective with PORTRAITS.
